3 Reasons Why You Should ALWAYS Pre-Order Movie Tickets
Summer 2018 gives us plenty of reasons to pre-order movie tickets: a new “Avengers” movie, a new “Deadpool,” “The Incredibles 2,” “Ant-Man and the Wasp,” a new “Jurassic World,” even a new “Mission Impossible.” A summer full of blockbusters, add in the fact that school is out and hot weather, and it is sure to be packed in the movie theaters.
Here are three reasons why you should pre-order movie tickets and one reason you shouldn’t.
Your spot is saved. By pre-ordering tickets online, you don’t have to worry whether or not the show you want to see will be sold out or not by the time you get there. You can take your time eating or running errands before your show, or even getting a nap in beforehand.
If your theater allows you to choose your seat, you can choose the most ideal seat. If you order your ticket way beforehand for the big releases or right when the showtimes come out, you can choose your favorite spot in the theater to sit. Choose later on and at least you are able to choose the least worse possible seat that is left.
One less line to avoid. In most theaters, you are able to go straight to the greeter stand instead of going to box office to pick up your tickets. Take along either a printed copy of your QR code or put it on your phone. The greeter will then scan it to ‘check you in’. Some theaters print them out for you, others simply point out which way to go to your theater. Depending on when and where you go, the line to the greeter stand might be long….but at least it is one less line to stand in, since you would be avoiding the box office altogether…where more often than not you would have wasted time, waiting for others to choose where they want to sit, etc.
If you are going with a group, it makes it hard to coordinate. Someone will have to likely buy all the tickets together, have to possibly carry the cost until everyone else repays (or even if they do), and actually chose a time that works for everyone. You can meet up and buy your tickets together at box office hours before your movie….but with all of the big blockbusters and it being summer, you may end up disappointed with the seat choices left. It will be difficult to get it coordinated, but try if you are trying to go as a group! It is better than getting there and finding out that the showtime you want to go to is either sold out or only has single seats left.
One reason not to: it takes the spontaneous act out of it! There is nothing more exciting than deciding at the last minute that you are going to see whichever movie you decide to go see. You go in without having had anticipated all day long that you were going to go to the theater. Having to pre-order tickets takes that ‘fun’ out. It also often does not work out too well for schedules that are busy and not constant. Luckily, if you do pre-order tickets though and have to cancel, all movie theaters have some sort of policy that allows you to get passes for another movie or your money back — it all depends on when you go in to exchange your tickets, either before the movie even starts or afterwards. If you do go afterward or even the next day, be sure that you have your QR code or email so you are able to show that you didn’t even pick up the tickets yet.
Whether you chose to pre-order tickets or make it spontaneous, enjoy your time at the movies! There is something out this summer for everyone, and it is a great way to get out of the summer heat.
